Get away from the crowds and join us for an intimate and personal visit of our kennel, trapper's homestead, and nature trails! Meet our huskies and have some fun with them! Great opportunity for photos and to be close to them.
Summer Kennel Tours will be available for individuals, families, and groups this upcoming summer season.
We have put a lot of time into the kennel to create a place that is both interesting and fun for people of all ages. Not only do you get to meet and play with 50 alaskan huskies and puppies, but we have built a number of nature trails complete with interpretive signage that give you some useful and interesting information on the native flora and fauna.
The main gathering area has a large stone firepit, a traditional trapper's tent, and raised outdoor kitchen. Within the 3 acres that we have there are examples of emergency shelters and fire pits (some of what we teach on our wilderness survival programs), a listening corner with benches where you can listen for and learn about the birds, and a sand pit for animal tracking.
For children, we are developing a special kids loop on our trail system this year. The "Fairy loop" will incorporate elements of fairy lore within the natural setting of the trail, as well as, a simple obstacle course for agility and to keep them moving.
All children will receive a Passport to the world of Mad Dogs & Englishmen where they will receive stamps as they learn about dogsledding, the kennel and trails, and of course the "dogs" themselves. This is also an activity book they will be able to take with them. Younger children will get to paint a plaster cast of their favorite dog pawprint to take home with them.
For groups of children or the 'young at heart', a scavenger hunt and other games can be organized based on age and interests.
