Mad Dogs and Englishmen is currently the first and only ski-joring tour company in Kananaskis Country, Alberta.
Ski-Joring is a hybrid sport that is still relatively new in the public eye. Combining dog sledding with skiing, ski-joring originated in Scandinavia and has gained popularity in racing circuits, as well as, recreational circuits around the world. It was introduced as a demonstration sport at the 'Lake Placid Winter Olympics'. Mad Dogs and Englishmen is a ski-jör racing kennel training a number of dogs for competitive racing. As the sport is growing in popularity, so to does the racing circuit with the addition of a ski-joring class being added to a number of pre-existing dog sled race venues.
Today, recreational ski-joring is becoming more and more popular and is ideally suited to the long Alberta winters. Your family K-9 companion can be quite easily accommodated, all you need is a little know how.

Ski Jör Clinics 
Mad Dogs and Englishmen have developed a 'Ski-Joring Clinic' to teach the
fundamentals of the sport. The clinic is designed to give you a good foundation to actively utilize your new skills out on the trails with your best friend (K-9 friend that is!).The clinic is split into 3 main sections; a classroom section, a skills section, and finally a touring section where you can put all your new knowledge to the test. The sessions can be scheduled on three separate evenings or combined into a comprehensive 2-day program. Clinics are on demand with a min of 3 participants and a maximum of 6. If you are wanting to train and work with your own dog(s) specifically, then a private lesson may be more appropriate for you and your favorite K-9 friend. Private lessons, offer one on one instruction for both you and your dog(s) and can be set up at any time. Pricing is $75.00 per hour + GST for a min of 2 hours of instruction. Mad Dogs and Englishmen is currently the first and only ski-joring and dog sled tour company in Kananaskis. We offer guided tours on a number of cross-country ski trails off the Smith-Dorien Highway. Some of these trails can be quite challenging so an intermediate skiing ability is a pre-requisite, as well as, previous ski jör training or experience. Our Cansi trained guides are available for cross-country ski instruction. A great way to learn a new sport or sharpen your skills before heading out on a trip.
