Dogsledding: Full Day Tour - Spray Lakes Quest

This is our ultimate full day tour. A full day of non-stop dogsledding!

You start at 9:00 am at the trailhead for approx. ½ hour of orientation. Then after assisting the guides with setting up the sleds, you hit the trail. First you head out over the frozen lake then up into the trees to navigate an exciting trail around Mt Nestor to your first rest stop at Mt Nester Viewpoint.

After a snack and warm drink, you will then continue South down the lake, past Buller Creek & Smutz Creek, following the South shore to our day camp below Isolation Ridge.

Here you will enjoy a campfire lunch and have a chance to warm up by the fire, enjoying the views SW down Bryant Creek and W to the flanks of Fortune Mountain.

Once back on the trail, you will loop around the Frozen Islands, going up and down frozen ice rifts, to connect to the trail back to Driftwood.

This tour requires a reasonable level of physical fitness and stamina.

Dogsledding: Full Day Tour - Mushing 101

Experience a day in the life of a Musher!

Our Mushing 101 is an intensive full day of dogsled instruction. You start at the kennel site in the early morning. Here you are introduced to the kennel and learn about the dogs, care and handling of them and the management of the kennel operation itself. You will learn about the equipment required and assist your guide in getting the dogs & equipment ready for your tour.

After loading the dogs, you would then head up to the trailhead for the second half of the day. Here, you will learn how to get the teams ready for the trail and how to set up the sleds.

Once all your dogs and equipment are hooked up and ready, it is then out onto the trail for the exciting run out to Mt Nestor Viewpoint. Along the way, you would learn about how to manage and care for your team and how to successfully drive them over the trails.

At our campsite, you will have a campfire lunch and time will be spent on how to break and bed down the dogs on the trail.

On the trail back, you will be in charge of your team and will lead them back to the trailhead. You will assist with the end of the tour teardown and will then head back to the kennel to feed the dogs and bed down.

This is a long day and persons must be ready to be out for approx 10-12 hours. Drinks, lunch, & snacks are included.

This program can be paired with the Spray Lakes Quest to make a 2-day course. A night camping out can be added between the two days. The second day you would lead your own team.
